Buckingham Palace released new photographic portraits to mark Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary. The portraits were taken by British photographer Matt Holyoak in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle in early November.
In the first portrait the couple are framed near Thomas Gainsborough's 1781 portraits of George III and Queen Charlotte, who were married for 57 years. The last three portraits were taken in front of a platinum-textured back drop to recall their 70-year marriage.
The marriage of the then Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten took place at Westminster Abbey on 20th November 1947. I have written an article with the 5+1 things you must know about this lovely couple.
