American First Lady Melania Trump donated the couture piece she was wearing to the 2017 inaugural ball to the First Ladies Collection at the National Museum of American History.
The vanilla silk, off-the-shoulder gown with ruffled accent and a claret ribbon was designed by Hervé Pierre in collaboration with Melania Trump.

The dress is now part of the Smithsonian's First Ladies Collection in Washington, D.C., which features 26 dresses worn by former first ladies.
You should have a look at the collection in their website. You can find gowns worn by Marta Washington, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy as see how fashion changed through time.

From Melania's speech: "In addition to celebrating fashion, which is something I have loved since I was a small child there is no better way to memorialize such a special evening, and new chapter in the life of our family."
